A Complete Urine Examination (CUE) in pets is a diagnostic test that analyzes urine to assess the health of the urinary system and detect conditions like kidney disease, urinary tract infections (UTIs), diabetes, and metabolic disorders. The test includes evaluating physical characteristics (color, clarity), specific gravity (kidney function), pH (acidity/alkalinity), protein, glucose, ketones, bilirubin, and blood. It also involves a microscopic examination to identify cells, crystals, and bacteria. Abnormal results, such as blood in the urine, glucose, or crystals, can indicate underlying health issues, helping veterinarians diagnose and treat various conditions. The test is recommended for pets showing signs of urinary problems or as part of routine health checks.
